Mission Statement

Camp Weredale provides exciting learning opportunities and enjoyable camping activities for children and teenagers with special needs, most of whom come from a background without opportunities to build much esteem, good social skills and a basic trust in life.

Programs and activities are offered as a retreat from daily obligations, school expectations and work responsibilities of city life in a setting surrounded by natural beauty.

Camp Weredale's guiding principle is to help campers discover their individual strengths and talents. Through sport and outdoor activities and creative expression workshops, young people become more aware of who they are. Programs are designed primarily for children, teenagers and families of Batshaw Youth and Family Centres.

The Sequoia program is a program for returning campers with additional challenges to build self-esteem, confidence and a sense of responsibility.

The R.E.A.L. (Responsibility, Expression, Awareness and Leadership) Team provides a special employment opportunity to a small group of youngsters from the Batshaw Youth and Family Centres.

The Personal Choice Activity Program (P.C.A.P.) allows older campers to chose a personal program to focus on. It gives campers an opportunity to explore in depth their activity of choice, such as: Water Works; Me, Myself & Art; Sequoia; and Sports Camp.
